There is a level of the Backrooms nearly impossible to find on purpose. Within it is an endlessly repeating maze of hallways, break rooms, cubicles, offices, and conference rooms. This section is meant for those who control the ventilation throughout the Backrooms and make sure the air stays cool, damp, and stagnant. And occasionally hazardous.
There is a buzzing of electricity, a powerful force to turn the motors that force the air between dimensions. Though the machinery cannot be seen, its presence is almost oppressive. All these controlled by computers, one per desk. Each one like an old IBM, beige monochrome monitors sit on top of a wood-panel chassis, crowned by a wide keyboard.
The executive offices, if one can find them, are remarkably stuffy for being in charge of ventilation. The fixtures and extensive wood accents call to mind a quiet retreat from the bustle of the lowly gremlins shuffling about the floor, apart from the everpresent unease. Each of these offices has a portrait of someone who is impossible to recognize, as each time it is observed, it changes shape, color, subject, reality. It's unwise to linger for too long. After all, Monday can sneak up on a curious explorer, and they won't want to find out what happens when they find a trespasser.
